In the peak Summer months (July and August) the Mailboat runs every day except Tuesday, Sunday. It leaves Balmaha at 11.30 am, returning at 2.00 pm. There is a 1-hour stop on Inchmurrin where Bar Lunches are available at Inchmurrin Hotel. For the months of May, June and September, the Mailboat runs to the above schedule on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. During Winter (October to April), it runs Mondays and Thursdays only: departing 10.50 am, returning 12.50.

Macfarlanes have been running the mail service on the Loch since 1948. The Mailboat delivers mail to four islands on the Loch, Inchtavannich, Inchmurrin, Inchcruin and Inchfad.
